Supplementary book review: Chinese supplementary

Seems a blink of an eye, and we're in term four of the school semester, and most children are most likely commencing their revision and preparing for the year end examination.

Most schools would likely kick off the examinations with oral examination. Though this is purely conversational based test, this is however, one of the most challenging test for children that are not as fluent or comfortable in specific languages. In my case with my eldest boy, the mother tongue,
Mandarin.

Recently I came across a supplementary reading assessment which works well to improve the child's vocabulary, especially the fact that this is targeted towards daily or commonly used Chinese phrases.

This book mentioned, titled "小学生作文常用好词语" is a great book that enhances a child's Mandarin vocabulary listing quickly.

Though it is targeted at improving composition writing, however, as the words listing are mostly commonly used descriptive phrases such as describing a person's look, action, feelings, expressions, as well as weather and time.  These phrases could also be applied in conversational enhancement, and thus incorporated to their oral exam revision. Therefore, this is indeed a great book to share and introduced as an add on to your child's supplementary library.

For each of the topics, the phrases will first be explained very briefly with a header, followed by sentence examples for each of the phrases, thereby immediate application demonstrations applied.

I hope you will find this sharing useful and the book a handy introduction to your child's supplementary library.

A gentle reminder to all parents, as well as myself, do remind your little ones to take short break stops in between a period of revision to rest the eye and mind.

Good luck and take care!
