Hooked on : Go Kids

One of the regular activities that we practised since Joel started primary school, is our regular visits to the neighbourhood library. This is an effort to cultivate reading habits amongst the kids, and their love for books. I am so glad this is one activity that my husband is so supportive of, and never denies us of any requests to make a trip there. In fact, he seems to enjoy the stay at the library browsing and reading to the kids as well! (It's a really beautiful sight to see the father reading out gently, surrounded by the little chicks for a change!)

Recently. we discovered that apart from just loaning of books, the Singapore National libraries do hosts many interesting and family friendly activities! They have a monthly publication of newsletter in the form of a mini magazine, Go Kids. This magazine publishes all the activities for kids and family for the entire month.

It is definitely a great reference for any parents or kids that are looking for educational and funfilled activities.  Occassionally there are even parenting workshops offering great parenting tips by experts!

I have included some sample pages of contents abstracted from Go Kids, as picture tells a thousand words.

Go Kids: Books highlight/Introduction
Go Kids also includes a monthly list of books highlighted with interesting summaries. In some of the highlights, they even include recommended reading age and referencing index where the book will be shelfed. I believe many parents would find this helpful in keeping track of what books are suitable for their children's reading.

These information are also available in the Go Library web, where many events are listed, and you can just make reservations directly through the portal.

I hope you find  these sharing informative, and do drop by the library to have a funfilled family time, or visit the portal for more information.

Happy Reading!
