First try on book dollhouse

Just about one and a half week before the trip to Cameron, in the first week of June holiday, I suddenly thought of a way to constructively spend the week with my boy Joel, currently attending P1. We could diy some mobile toys that is light and portable, so that the three kids could be entertained on the long hours journey to Cameron! Can't we?!

We started spending the rest of the week exchanging ideas, cutting papers and moulding clays in the afternoons together. It was indeed quality time well spent, Joel had been so occupied for the entire week, studies revision in the mornings, brief naps and crafts in the afternoon. Finally , we managed to finish up 3 books and 3 marker pen drawing boards (To be covered in another time) in the week.  Walah!!

It turned out, the books served their functions well, and it did keep the 3 monkeys well glued to their seats quietly (At least for over an hour). For parents that might be traveling long hours with kids, why not consider making your dearest one of this?

Enclosed some sharing of the books we talked about (I hope the low resolution images still provides some ideas what it's all about) :

Side view of doll house folding
This is how the side view of how the doll house collapses, with furnitures folding up.

Living room with flat screen TV on TV console.

Living room comes with a huge flat screen TV (Cut out from Ikea magazines) and standing on TV console.  A foldable sofa  is placed and pasted before the TV.

"Owner" of the doll house standing just under a wall shelf.

This little girl is what inspired me to create the doll house. She's actually a sticker, with clothings and other accessories in one pack . I thought it's a waste to use it as sticker, thus I have pasted them all on paper and cut out as a paper doll.  A cardboard is stuck behind her feet for a standing paper doll.

Bedroom with overhead wall shelf

This is a bedroom with a clothes cabinet just beside and a wall shelf just overhead.  The wall papers are actually cut out from scraps of wrapping paper. Similarly for the patterns on the bed.

Close up of the cabinet with clothings inside.

On the right shows a kitchen with a huge wall mural of a pink daisy (Again cutout from a wrapping paper). But, Oh No! Already there are two hungry clay monsters ( Done by my eldest son, Joel ) waiting eagerly for their meals!

This is a top down view of one of the book that's nearing completion and glued together, however, one of the room remains empty at the point this picture was taken.

Finally, the 3 books completed (At least functionally), sealable with velcros.

I will need to add more details to some  of the interiors as well as dress up the exterior of the house.

Hope you enjoyed visiting this doll house as much as I enjoyed making and sharing them! :)
